Who We Serve

YTC offers multiple programs in economically disadvantaged school districts in the Chicago area, which serve predominantly African American and Hispanic American youth.  We operate programs throughout Chicago’s South and West neighborhoods, and some inner suburbs including Cicero and Evanston.

YTC's programs are aimed at students who seek a safe place to go after school, who desire to use their time in creative and productive ways, and who wish to learn useful and practical career-oriented skills.  The programs are specially designed and tailored to operate in any community struggling with poverty, crime, depleted academic resources, and budget constraints.  Over 25% of crime involving teens happens between 3 and 6pm.  By providing after-school programs for teens in such communities, we are helping to address several fundamental needs.  YTC is able to help those teens develop self-confidence about their technical skills and a more optimistic view of their employability and future by involving them in helping to solve the needs of their communities.
