New program · June 2026
A YTC robotics program just opened in Lagos, Nigeria.
Fifteen students at Victokev Schools. A teacher who learned it the way they are.
The person at the front of the room is a student-teacher who came up through YTC's program in Ethiopia. The kits on the tables were donated by YTC's partner in Mozambique. The person who opened the door came home from Chicago to do it.
Nobody in Chicago shipped the equipment. Nobody in Chicago taught the first session.
The class

Fifteen students started a robotics class at Victokev Schools in Lagos in June — YTC's newest classroom in Africa, running on the same Arduino curriculum students learn in Cicero, Evanston and Durango.

The teacher

Eyuel is an Ethiopian student who learned in YTC's program at Haile Manas Academy and trained other students there before Nigeria. He is the ladder in one person: learned, taught, led, and carried it to the next country.

The leader

Olumide came to YTC's Chicago classrooms as a U.S. State Department fellow through the Community Engagement Exchange — and went home to build. Victokev Schools is his.
